
DeWitt started performing on stage when she was 13. When she was 13 Dewitt started performing on stage. She earned the Bachelor of Arts degree from Ball State University. During her summer stock performance she was enticed by the director to apply to UCLA's Department of Theater MFA Program. She was given the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship as well as the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt has claimed that she didn't meet actor Abe Vigoda while she was at UCLA. She was employed as an assistant secretary while at UCLA. DeWitt's character as Janet Wood in Three's Company's 1977-84 series is among her most famous. She was part of the show's pilot and then was hired. Janet also appeared in an episode of the show The Ropers in the year 1979. DeWitt made her acting debut in an episode of 1984 on Three's Company. Acting was her first return on stage in June 1991 when she was a performer in an episode of the Noises Off production in Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse. [1] She later appeared in the 1995 TV comedy film Spring Fling! Pinky and the Brain aired a 1997 episode featuring the character that was based off her. It was voiced partially by another actress. The actress was also featured in an episode of Cybill. [6] She has appeared on shows on TV such as Hope Island, The Nick at Nite Holiday Special, and Call of the Wild in 2000.
